I know I'm struggling on maps where you have to use 2 concs to get you up and over, then prime a third very carefully, such as in between the 1st and 2nd conc going off so that you hit the third while travelling downward.. Very difficult indeed.

Overall, timing is the most difficult thing in concing. If anyone needs any help learning, I usually hang out in the +MM+ server, but I also just bought my own FF server, so that should be up with concmaps and such shortly after I set it up tonight.

Where can I find some conc maps for beginners ?
ff_charybda is a bit tough for me :)

try finding a server with conc_oneyed_b2 on it, as it's a pretty easy map to beat, with the exception of the last jump. Anywho, it's great for practice considering it's so incredibly huge.

  • Prime a third conc immediately after throwing the second conc, then throw below you for maximum height.
This doesn't really get you a super amoung of height, but it looks really cool when done correctly.

When did it become 'The Flower Technique', and why did it become 'The Flower Technique'? :P

(I do not have a name for it...over-head conc, maybe? I do not know :P)

There is an error in your guide.

You say use 2nd conc as a hh but then tell people to drop it :P

KubeDawg 11-06-2007 03:38 PM

You're right, I'll edit that lol.

The servers I played called it the flower technique. I certainly didn't make it up, but I can't remember who originally told me. ill4death taught me how to do it that way though.

It also works (and is a little easier IMO) if you HH the third conc as opposed to dropping it below you. You still get the same height (I think)

public_slots_free 11-06-2007 04:44 PM

you get higher with HH because it take into account the speed you are traveling and increases your speed even moreso. I do not think drop concs do that.

KubeDawg 11-06-2007 05:41 PM

Well there is not much of a difference with that technique. Now if you do the ultra high one, you have more chance to gain more height with a HH because it goes off when you are still going pretty damn fast. With the flower technique, you start slowing down, which woulc cause the HH to have less of an effect.

Totally. Most really like helping people on the maps.

Avoid the walls in FF for now, as they seem to strip the power off the conc.
In TFC it is easier to juggle at a wall, but in FF you have to do it in mid air.
:)

Works fine with 2.0 juggling at walls.

Nice tutorial... just read it. Got the author mixed up and pmed the wrong person with comments on how good the tutorial is.

Here a few additions to expert techniques. Don't know if they're really very useful to this community, but they were used in tfc by a few concers.

Here they are:

Quote:

The QuadConc
Prime the first conc and throw it on the ground.
Prime the second conc at 2.0 beeps and throw it where the first conc was dropped.
Crouch above the two concs. Jump just before the first conc explodes.
(With the correct timing, you should land on the edge of the second conc's blast sphere.)
Prime the third conc as the second conc explodes.
Looking upward, throw the third conc at 2.5 beeps.
Prime the fourth conc as soon as the third conc is released.
Hold the fourth conc

This technique allows a concer to reach heights greater than those possible with a four conc juggle.

The Double QuadConc
Prime the first conc and throw it on the ground.
Prime the second conc at 2.0 beeps and throw it where the first conc was dropped.
Crouch above the two concs. Jump just before the first conc explodes.
(With the correct timing, you should land on the edge of the second conc's blast sphere.)
Prime the third conc as the second conc explodes.
Looking upward, throw the third conc at 2.5 beeps.
Prime the fourth conc as soon as the third conc is released.
Hold the fourth conc
Prime the fifth conc as the fourth conc explodes.
Looking upward, throw the fifth conc at 2.5 beeps.
Prime the sixth conc as soon as the fifth conc is released.
Hold the sixth conc

This technique allows a concer to reach heights greater than those possible with a six conc juggle. The direction in which the fifth and sixth concs are thrown can be modified to blast you at a different angle.

Inverted Juggling (Flower Technique Extension)
Prime the first conc and throw it on the ground.
Position yourself above the first conc.
Prime a second conc at 2.0 beeps.
Looking upward, throw your second conc as you jump over your first conc.
Prime a third conc as soon as the second conc is released.
Looking upward, throw your third conc before 2.0 beeps.
Prime a fourth conc as soon as the third conc is released.
Looking upward, throw your fourth conc before 2.0 beeps.

This process can be repeated as long as concs are available. Three concs should propel you almost as high as the hh (three conc). Four concs should propel you almost as high as the Quadconc. Five concs should propel you almost as high as the double hand held. This technique is an advanced way to juggle and can be more efficient than normal juggling in a lot of circumstances. Practice this often to get us to the conc positions for angled juggling.

Prepriming LongJump (Extended)
Face the opposite way to where you are going. Crouch. Look strait down.
Prime the first conc and toss it while you are in that position.
Turn around to where you are going. Stand up.
Prime the second conc at 2.5 beeps and throw it in that direction.
Jump as the first conc explodes, pushing you in the direction of the second conc.
Prime the third conc as you jump.
Just before the second conc explodes and propels you farther, throw the third conc forward (slightly upward).
Prime the fourth conc as soon as you let go of the third conc.

You can either use the fourth conc as a hand held conc, or continue using the last few steps to be propelled even farther.
