Any games with good sniper gameplay/mechanics?

Yeah. I'm bored this month. I've been playing tfc using sniper class, and I find it very fun, but I need other games, preferably class based games, that have a decent sniper class or sniper rifles. I do not know why I have such a fascination with long range combat..

It needs to be fps obviously, and doesn't have to have bots, but it would be nice if it did.

BF2

Everything 12-18-2008 11:29 PM

I may consider installing that again.

Any other?

TF2. Best sniper in a game in my opinion.

Savage 2 has sniper-esque stuff on the human side. It's freeware now, and a bad-ass game in general.

Everything 12-18-2008 11:38 PM

Damn, TF2, going to have to agree with that.

I'll try out Savage 2. looks interesting via the site.

Desyphur 12-19-2008 03:17 AM

YEah I love the TF2 sniper...

mervaka 12-19-2008 01:47 PM

i'm gonna install BF2 again i think..

Quake 3 railgun action, no other game beats it!

Innoc 12-19-2008 04:55 PM

BG2 is a good suggestion. How about UT and UT2K4?

Everything 12-19-2008 06:53 PM

Hmmmmmmm, I already gave ut & ut2004 a go, unfortunately. I need more of a class based, like bf2, tf2 and others. I'll try out bf2.

greenday5494 12-19-2008 07:29 PM

CS?

Everything 12-19-2008 07:35 PM

Well, nah ..

I'll say what games I already played.
  • Quake series
  • BF2, BF 2142, BFV, BF mods
  • UT, UT2003 + 2004
  • Red Orchestra
  • FF
  • TFC
  • TF2
  • Sniper Elite
  • Just Cause (bad game too)
  • GTA IV (console)

I do want to play TF2 again, but unfortunately don't want to play for the game again, as I'm partially VAC banned on one of my accounts, thus only being able to play hl games.

greenday5494 12-19-2008 08:39 PM

ouch, that sucks. how did you do that you can still play on non-VAC servers though

Everything 12-19-2008 09:16 PM

I had a hack exe in one of my steam folders, yeah, I like to hack in listen servers. I had it in there for too long, I didn't use it anymore, than one day while playing TF2 I was banned for it, even though I wasn't using it for tf2.

self-owned. Yeah, I know I can, but it's just not as fun.

UT and UT2K4 are both way too old for new players to get into. It's like TFC, it's good if you were in on the ground floor, but now it's inaccessible. Communities are full of people who know all the tricks and no newbies.

I recommend DOD:S, I really liked sniping in that game.

I didn't look at it that way. I always liked the M-M-M-Monster Kill! UT2K4 may be the next game I start lanning with my son. He's really enjoying BF2 and the mods. At 12, even with his impairment, he's a pretty damned reliable sniper.

FrenchToast 12-20-2008 03:08 AM

BF2 is one of the only games I keep going back to over and over and over again.
