New community project accepting demos.

This project will be a full 30s of each class (minus civy) in a public server environment showing off pure skill.

Anyone is invited to submit, here are what I need in a zip or rar archive file.

The demo you wish to submit.
A text file with the following info

I'm looking for great captures and defenses with kill streaks.

You can email your demos to GeneF1330 at hotmail.com

I look forward to seeing some great stuff from you guys.

Would have some great footage for you if I ever remembered to record demos.

I'll try to remember in future.

MonoXideAtWork 02-25-2009 01:04 AM

there's a great script in the tips and tutorials section.

So its strictly public play?

Hammock 03-02-2009 04:21 PM

My problem is I always forget to hit stop before the map change and my demos usually end up corrupting.

GeoKill-----> 03-02-2009 04:32 PM

make a bind for it

Hammock 03-02-2009 04:50 PM

I would have the same problem even if I had stop bound to a key. It's not that I don't have enough time to type "Stop", it's the fact that 25+ minutes later I've completely forgotten I've started a demo in the first place. Even most of my clan matches are corrupt because of this reason.

It would be nice that no matter what the game executed the "Stop" command for you just before switching maps, even if you never started one in the first place.

GeoKill-----> 03-02-2009 05:08 PM

Yeah something like that would be great, once the scoreboard shows, it takes a screen shot of it and stops the demo.

You can also upload stuff using the FF public upload if e-mail is not an option for you (attachment sizes)

So others don't have to go hunting for it:

Code:

//With this script you can record 26 demos without naming them :) just hit F7 to start record. F8 stops recording.

bind "F7" "recorda"
alias recorda "record demoa;bind f7 recordb"
alias recordb "record demob;bind f7 recordc"
alias recordc "record democ;bind f7 recordd"
alias recordd "record demod;bind f7 recorde"
alias recorde "record demoe;bind f7 recordf"
alias recordf "record demof;bind f7 recordg"
alias recordg "record demog;bind f7 recordh"
alias recordh "record demoh;bind f7 recordi"
alias recordi "record demoi;bind f7 recordj"
alias recordj "record demoj;bind f7 recordk"
alias recordk "record demok;bind f7 recordl"
alias recordl "record demol;bind f7 recordm"
alias recordm "record demom;bind f7 recordn"
alias recordn "record demon;bind f7 recordo"
alias recordo "record demoo;bind f7 recordp"
alias recordp "record demop;bind f7 recordq"
alias recordq "record demoq;bind f7 recordr"
alias recordr "record demor;bind f7 records"
alias records "record demos;bind f7 recordt"
alias recordt "record demot;bind f7 recordu"
alias recordu "record demou;bind f7 recordv"
alias recordv "record demov;bind f7 recordw"
alias recordw "record demow;bind f7 recordx"
alias recordx "record demox;bind f7 recordy"
alias recordy "record demoy;bind f7 recordz"
alias recordz "record demo z;bind f7 recordend"
alias recordend "bind f7 stop;startaviend1;startaviend2;startaviend3"
alias startaviend1 "showconsole;echo Recording limit exceeded. Restart the game/re-execute the movie config to record again.
alias startaviend2 "echo Be careful not to overwrite previous recordings."
alias startaviend3 "echo Find your demo files in C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\username\counter-strike source\cstrike"

bind "F8" "stop"

Nice one, but I have to ask, where does that go? In the main config file?

PartialSchism 03-03-2009 08:13 AM

You could put that in autoexec.cfg, or make a new one.

Example: demorecord.cfg

then bind a key to "exec demorecord.cfg"

Vasa 03-04-2009 12:41 PM

Could you explain a bit more what you mean by tickmark? Do you mean at which point in the demo the good part is?Or do you just mean the date and approximate hour it was taken?

MonoXideAtWork 03-04-2009 01:15 PM

A time in seconds where your play starts, I need to be able to fast-forward directly to your play when I am recording.

xks 03-04-2009 02:14 PM

The script does tend to bug out in FF sometimes. If I stop recording and start recording again it often tends to paralyse me and paralyse everyone else around me (visually). Some error messages appear in the console everytime I try to move or perform an action although the game is clearly continuing whilst I am frozen. A retry is the only way to fix it :P

I've got some footage now but it's not what I would call "pure skill", just good play.

PartialSchism 03-04-2009 04:47 PM

That's not the script bugging, its FF.

I'd help if I had the ability to run Steam on this thing. *smacks laptop*

I offer to show my mad Civy skills on Waterpolo.
