Plenty of different things you can do in CS. ka, fy, de, cs, es, and as just to name a few. That isn't considering the different mods some servers run. No problem in not liking CS it isn't for everyone this is true. In my opinion all FPS games are going to be repetitive so you have to find something about it you like and if you can't you aren't going to like it.

I hated the betas. I considered CS a joke until I heard it was going retail.

When and where do you play CS? Do you have a server? I have a CS 1.6 server and a TFC server (<-will be a FF server ASAP) on a T1 in Hot Springs. Both are pretty low traffic but normally populate well when 1 or 2 people play for a short time.

I'm a vote ban/kick admin over at CSGamer I mostly play on those servers. Whats the IP to your 1.6 server? I was just in Hot Springs last Saturday for a wedding. Woot.

"The Dead Zone" CS 1.6 "70.252.69.65:27015"
"The Wrecking Yard" TFC (FF ASAP) "70.252.69.67:27015"

Servers are usually most populated on Monday and Thursday nights.

If you are not too far from Hot Springs you should check out the Arkansas LAN http://www.arkansaslan.com/ This is to be a 200 man LAN in Feb. Arkansas LAN is an evolution of Spa City LAN which has hosted several great LAN parties recently. (Last Feb 71 gamers, October 63 gamers) If FF makes it a public release before FEB it will have dedicated server time at the lan. It was on the game list in October but to no avail. If we get enough people interested we might try to host a FF tourney (or at least an exibition match on the big screen) Tell your friends about it.

I'm about two hours away I might consider it. I haven't went to an Arkansas Lan in a long time. Did you ever go to any of the DamageLans?

Valve quit supporting it but there are a good number of maps out there and the game mode still works. It isn't one of my personal favorites but some people like it.

You should. We had people come from Tulsa who said it was worth the drive. I never attended a Damage LAN When/Where are or were they?

DamageLan was pretty small. It was started around here in Russellville but they quit having them. The largest turnout I had seen for one was about 40 or so but it was alot of fun. If I can get some friends to go I'll definately show up.

Russellville! Man you are just a quick blast down Senic Highway 7 from a great time.

If you do decide to come register ASAP. The more people registered the better we look to the big sponsors and the better prizes we get to give away.

Does everyone attending have to participate in the tournaments? Back when we had lans we also had a few lan servers set up so people could run around and be dumb on. Is there internet access?

Tourney's are optional. I had a team in the las CS:S tourney just for fun. At the last lan there were 5 dedicated servers. (Tourney server +4 random) I would anticipate at least this many if not more. Also if individuals wanted to play a different game many set up their own servers and hosted other individuals. Games rotate in and out of the dedicated servers at the discression of the admins. A schedule of server time slots will be made public before the LAN but is not yet availiable. There was internet access at the last lan and I would anticipate it again. This is limited bandwidth however, intended for updates and patches, so if you are just looking for a fast place to download stuff online this is not it.

DE - Terrorists have to bomb a target (usually two labeled A and B) if the bomb is planted the Counter-Terrorists have to defuse it. The bomb timer is set by the server usually 45-35.

CS - CTs have to rescue hostages and escort them back the rescue zone. Ts are supposed to prevent CTs from doing so.

AS - A random player on the CT team becomes the VIP with alot of armor and only a pistol. The CTs have to escort the VIP to a designated zone. The Ts are limited to a smaller selection of weapons than normal and must stop the VIP from making it to the zone. Its alot like TFC's Hunted only more organized.

ES - One team has to make it to a designated zone (usually in the enemy spawn) and the other team has to keep them from getting there.

FY - Usually a symetrical(sp) layout with almost every gun in the game on the ground. There isn't any buying at spawn but you can usually find one hidden in the middle of the map.

AIM - Designed to help players improve their aim, often has the more popular guns on the ground (AK47/M4A1/AUG/SIG).

HE - Grenades only usually setup in a volleyball type layout.

KA - Knife only.

SURF - Surf maps.

KZ - Climbing maps. Alot of fun.

I'm sure I missed one in there somewhere. Hopefully I don't have to explain scout and awp maps.

Ah so that's what it is, gameplay modes. Never knew. In my 3 years of CS/CSS I've never played ES or AS.
