"Flag Rally" map idea
I'm finishing up with my first FF map and came up with an idea for the next one...
Basically a race between two flags. Both teams start at the same area, which is called "Start". Both flags spawn there, and the teams must carry them around the track, through a set of check points, to score. Imagine a rally race with flags instead of cars, and the road filled with all kinds of obstacles. This kind of gameplay makes offense and defense use the same direction for both teams. This means defense needs to fight eachother for obtaining good defense spots, offense needs to fight defense to get past them, and offense can fight offense as a defense. Here's a list of features I've planned so far:
I haven't planned the theme or the size of the map yet, but I think it shouldn't be too big so defense wouldn't have to move too much and players would also be more packed up for more intense fights. So if anyone has any ideas for the theme, size, shape of the track, name for the map or any other features, now it's the time to tell me! Also I'd like to know if there are any similar maps for TFC or anything. Last edited by A1win; 09-29-2007 at 10:44 AM. |

Somthing like a improved version of fishinabarrel tfc map .. but where all the 2 teams play in attack and in defense??
i post the readme of the original tfc map Code:
______________________________________________________________________ MAP: Fish in a Barrel VERSION: BETA01 MAP TYPE: Team Fortress Classic NOTE: Variation on a Shooting Gallery AUTHOR: Randy "Fumigator" Whitaker EMAIL: fumigatr@aros.net DATE: 07 May 2000 PLAYERS: 8-32, 2 teams ______________________________________________________________________ MAP DESCRIPTION: "Fish in a Barrel" is a Shooting Gallery variation. Blue team (a.k.a Shooters) is limited to the Sniper class, and shoots at the Red team (a.k.a. Fish), as the Fish attempt to run through four different levels, scoring points as they progress. Fish have an opportunity on each level to trap and kill any snipers currently shooting at them, by touching the sniper sign on the level. Typically, the sign is a challenge to get to if you are being shot at. Please note that the sign will NOT activate the trap if there are no snipers currently standing in that level's sniper post. Each sign has a flashing spotlight that indicates if a sniper is standing at the sniper post. If the spotlight's flashing, it can be activated. The four levels are: Level 1-- Quiet city street. Level 2-- Boot Camp obstacle course. Level 3-- Crazy Xen capers. Level 4-- Recently abandoned Castle. Game play notes: A Fish Fish scores 1 team point and 1 frag for each level they successfully run, and 2 team points for running all four levels. If a Fish activates a sniper trap, the Fish scores 5 team points and 2 frags. Shooters score 2 team points for every fish they kill. |

New game styles always interest me so I thought I'd list my brain storms on the subject. When I first heard your idea I thought of runners on a track going around an oval with bases on either side. Then I realized Halo has a similar game style with moving territories which is basically the same idea you have - whether they're all in a row or randomized.
You could also take a map like CZ2 and make it so only 1 command point is available for capture at a time... so both teams fight over each point one at a time. |

Ok since neither of you seemed to get what my idea was, I described it a little better in the first post.
