This was pretty good
a few suggestions would be the transitions which were sudden, and maybe instead of text on black, you could do text over the video (think they're called overlays)

Finally got to watch the vid. I liked it, I wish my demos would play back as smoothly as yours, I'd try making some videos again. But something happened and my demo playback is choppy as hell and I can't figure out how to correct the issue.

How are you recording it?

playdemo demoname.dem
Shift + F2 to pause it
startmovie moviename raw
Exit console, then unpause
endmovie

That's now I record. Yeah, it takes up 100+ gigs on my hard drive, but it's very smooth.

I open up the demoui and select from the list and play, but I don't even have to run the startmovie command. I understand startmovie makes your screen tick like 1 frame/second. It's just the playback, even if I just want to watch a demo I made forget about even making a movie from it people jitter around on my screen like they're standing on a vibrating chair.

It's the same for me, but I think it's just my PC struggling (it's quite low-end).

Although I can create a dedicated server, run source TV and record me playing inside it doing something completely smoothly.

Must get round to watching someone elses PoV at some point and see what happens then, but I r lazy...

Idd you are lazy, i spend 10 hours recording from demos, and learning to make a movie is also a pain in the ass :s took me 3 days to understand the basics of VirtualDub, Movie script, power mp3 cutter and Sony ... Gl anyway

I use vdub, that's the step you do after you've captured the frames from in game, and I used Sony vegas to compose.

It's the playback that's laggy, I wouldn't even be able to use fraps as opposed to startmovie because my demo playback is choppy as shit, and I have a pretty decent computer too.

Yeah, but there was little reason for me to bother when I wasn't able to use my own demos in anything. Plus, I have no FF-friends to yoink them off anyways.

The pain of hours wasted recording is part of the fun. :P

Hmm, decent computer? I wonder if there are any settings that are changeable that might effect your recording

If you use the movie script I use firstly you choose your FPS, standard its is 30 but you can go from 30 to 200 or sumit then you record with F11 and stop recording with F12, afterwords you do CTRL --> from the site After recording a clip, hit control (host_framerate 0) for functional demoui speed control. Before you record your next clip, don't forget to hit the down arrow key again (or whatever framerate key you used).

Link again

All your problems will be solved

Hammock, how did you save the movie then? I thought startmovie command was the only way to record from source recorder.

Another question, are the files saved as jpegs, pngs, or tga files? Right now mine save as TGA files, but i distinctly remember some time before i got it to save as jpegs, but im not sure.

Thank you! atleast someone gets it! lol

Look this has nothing to do with my fps, all background sceanary is smooth, all textures are clean, it's only the player models. When I view my demos the players on my screen shake like each one is in a martini shaker while going about a normal stable world.
