comparing to TFC

why are people comparing FF/TF2 to TFC?

The original game was TF for Quakeworld. I understand that TFC was based on the half life engine but the roots are from the original Quake.

I have played FF and it's pretty cool and I eagerly await TF2 (dont wanna buy oj box) but am I the only one who realizes that this game spawns all the way back to the original quake?

maybe I'm just too old school
