IDirect3DDevice9 or some such.

I've been having some problems getting FF to run for very long and it doesn't quite seem like i'm having any one problem. I've tried unistalling/reinstalling, deleting those mp3s, and running source sdk. Sometimes while i play my screen will just freeze. It looks like my computer is frozen, but i can still hear and play. I just can't see what I'm doing. And then the other day it ended the program and gave me an error that said something about IDirect3DDevice9. I'll post the whole error if it happens again.

I went to this thing steam://support/?Issues=*, and it told me that norton was conflicting somehow. So I'm uninstalling it when i get home. And it also told me my Nvidia display drivers are out of date when they are infact completely up to date.

1 gig ram
Amd sempron processor le-1150
Nvidia geforce 8400 gs

And thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah it's never a good idea to play a game with an active antivirus in the background, or any other program for that matter.

Thats a common issue with the Nvidia drivers. steam seems to like an older version ot they haven't updated that part of their diagnostic tool. I would wait on rolling back the drivers for Nvidia as a last resort. Let us know what happens after you uninstall norton.

But has anyone ever had that screen freeze? It gets stuck on the last this g I look at, but everything else works. I can hear my self running around and shooting and stuff. And my screen stays like that even if I alt tab or ctrl alt delete

NP I post that link a lot. It lays out some basic shit for people and removes the guess work if people follow the suggestions they have below how your system stack ups with steam.

I use AVG for my av, but even if I updated, removed and reinstalled, it sometimes came back to haunt me. Steam just doesn't like AV software it seems, no matter the game you're playing. I had it with almost any source game. ><

Would uninstalling norton affect my flash player at all? I uninstalled it yesterday, and the first time i went to youtube since then none of the videos load up. Same goes for all flash videos. And when I try to DL it from adobe it the dl never initiates. Needless to say I'm kind of pissed because i can't get it to work and a reboot did nothing.

Yeah Norton is the worst piece of shit as far as installing/uninstalling goes. Well, it's the worst piece of shit at other stuff too... actually, pretty much everything sucks about Norton.

It shouldn't have. If it did Symantec is asking for a lawsuit.

I tried reinstalling flash. But when I go to the site the Dl doesn't start.(as in the active x bar doesn't pop up asking if i want to dl the program. And the don't have a button to push start the dl. Haven't tried windows media player yet because i don't use it as much and care less.
