Assassins Creed for PC
Has anyone tried this game? I keep seeing it in Steam and have been intrigued but i've read quite a few reviews that say aside from the awesome graphics, the quests are boring, the NPC's are repetative, and the game is buggy.
What do you all think? -Icculus {FYC} |

Pretty, though repetitive, basic story is kind of interesting, but overall, the game gets boring. I would wait for prices to drop, personally.

thats funny because i just, uh, 'got' it a couple days ago. at first it was horrendously buggy (audio and video way out of sync, sometimes audio just wouldnt play at all so i would see a conversation take place but not know what anyone was saying) and then once i got to the temple (like, the first mission) the game crashed.
i found out that it was all my fault for trying to play the game on decent settings, as when i lowered everything to minimum settings, it started playing a lot better. so far its been pretty fun, but i am experiencing some graphical glitches (models popping in and out of view at random). mind you, last night was my first time playing without it being a laggy piece of rubbish, so i cant give you much insight as to how it plays after more than a couple hours, but so far i dig it. jumping around all nimbly bimbly from building to building is a lot of fun, and so far the story line has been pretty intriguing and hasnt made me want to skip any cutscenes yet. the NPCs are damn repetitive already, always making their comments about me being crazy for jumping around all nimbly bimbly, but its not a big deal to me. in my few hours of playing, i can say that i would much rather have this game on a console than PC. i play with a gamepad and have yet to try it with keyboard and mouse, but i cant imagine a keyboard doing the control scheme any justice. and unless you have a top of the line PC, the game is going to have to look like shit compared to its console versions to be playable. i wish i had a PS3 EDIT: ok well i just played for a little more and once i got to the Kingdom, it went to shit. something that looked like it might have been the hay texture was stretching all chaotically all over the fuckin place, covering up a lot of my screen, making it unplayable. not sure if this is just due to the version i got or what, but it really fucking sucks. someone please donate their ps3 to me D=

my friend told me that the "platform" sortof element in the game wasn't done very well and that it was too easy (something about just holding a button to jump from rooftop to rooftop). and that once you get throwing knives (I dunno how far this would be) the combat is basically trivialized. but it seems he still played it through, so there must be something decent about it.

Obligatory relevant Zero Punctuation review.
Yahtzee seems to be the kind of reviewer who doesn't really... you know, hold back or worry about pissing off advertisers or shit like that. I trust him. The thing he always hits spot on are the little things that will annoy the fuck out of you.

After playing WoW for 3 years, I think I can handle some repetitive quest objectives in exchange for an interesting story...

WoW Quest types:
1. Kill X of something(s) 2. Bring me X of something off something's dead body (which usually requires you to kill many more somethings than 1. above) 3. Use quest item Y on X of something (usually killing something in the process) Which can usually be summarized as "Kill and loot a bunch of somethings." Truly inspired! |

I really liked assassins creed. I have it for the 360 though.. Yes the quests do get repetitive, but I dont even do them half the time anyway.. i just run around killing people and jump from rooftop to rooftop to get away

I picked up S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Shadows of Chernobyl) to play while I wait for the price to drop on Assassins Creed. It's actually a pretty fun game. I expected just another FPS with a bunch of mutant monsters but the RPG aspects of it and the rival factions, ETC make this a pretty fun game. Not bad for $20.00
