ff_blitz

Hello everyone, i just registered today to present a map i made for this great mod.

So, what about blitz? It's a little map with a fast gameplay. This map has been successfuly tested with 2 poeple but i didn't have much more poeple, so this map needs to be put on stress. So it has the status released until someone find a horrible bug / glitch.

For sure, the map is totaly complete, it got it's loading screen, remade from scrath on gimp and based on the original FF.

So to finish i put everything under an archive file which content the source of this map, the source of the loading screen (for gimp), the map (by the way). It is released under the GPL license.

I agree if you want to put it in a community map pack. If you find any bugs, or any big glitch, if you want to suggest any updates, please e-mail me.

Just played this on TALOS server. Nice job and a very nice looking map. I especially like the signs for capture point and flag. Good choice on those. The only thing I didn't like is the ceiling height on the hallways leading to the flagroom and the underground tunnel. both of them are too low to get a full jump in so bunnyhopping through them is impossible.

Other than that, great job!

its possible to bunny hope while ducking, and a trimp jump is possible from the flag room to the capture point to escape by the roof

designed for maximum 4 vs 4 players. You know its a good solution for few populated server

I have an idea of a new map, now a bigger map. I like to make maps for this mod, it's very challenging. Other mapper' skills are really high ^^

Now i'll try to demonstrate mines on a bigger and greater map. This one was just a little training to get back to hammer (i was a HL1 mapper, so i have to learn some little tricks available on source, as i allready have with this one)

For your next map try to make it more skill wise so we can trimp, ramp slide etc...

for sure : a bigger map needs definitly this to be interesing. For blitz i prefered to lower the halls to slow down the gameplay. You know its frustrating to get the flag picked up and captured in less than 10 sec That's why blitz has small deadly halls encouraging the teamplay and not the solo roxor scout ^^ Blitz outdoor is open and a scout can take the flag easy by the roof access, but definitly need his team to be covered on his escape or get the exit of the tunnel cleaned.

Now for the new map, the gameplay is totaly different, i'll try to stuck with basic gameplay like FF originals (well, 2fort, ...). But i concentrate on at the moment on the environnement, ambiance, i want to make it stunishing ^^ (And if i can make what i have in mind, it will )

I'm sorry, i have some nasty internet issues :S. My provider's DNS failed and 90% of the dns services are down (no msn, no google, no ftp nothing xD), (but i can still join this forum woohoo).

So i dont know when the situation will be fixed.

I managed to play it on talos server on 4 vs 4 and the gameplay was good as my expectations. I think its a good map for 3 vs 3 to 4 vs 4.

Now i focus on an new map, bigger this time, i try to make eye-candy architecture as possible while looking constantly on the performances (vis optimisation FTW)

At the moment, the central room is designed, i will start soon both bases, path & security. When the basic gameplay will be designed, i'll add lots of details, making the environnement cool & realistic. I promise, the next map will have a nice atmosphere.

Played this the other day with a 3v3. The gameplay was fun, my only suggestion is to add team colored lights over the signs exiting the respawns. As I exited the respawn I had to stop each time and stare at the wall before I knew what direction I had to go. If I didn't I ended up going the wrong way many times. As I did this, I watched my teammates do the same thing. It was sorta comical actually to run out of your respawn and see your teammate stairing at the wall.
