Monitor support

There are _rt_Camera textures included with the mod that are used for monitors so you can use a func_monitor entity to display a view from a point_camera entity. When i use a func_montior the game says the entity is not supported.

I was wondering is there any way to get a monitor system where you can view one place in your map from another in FF? Or is it still unsupported?

i dunno what entity is uses, but look at cornfield. it has a moniter.

I aint been posting as much but i still play FF a good bit... i also play empires and insurgency a lot too tho.

i dont want to attract too much attention or people will hassle me to finish colossus

yes, maybe they just applied a screen texture, but look at the second last capture point, on the wall behind it

I found it, its just a prop model but I worked out how to get the effect I wanted. It is cool.

Could be nice to have a neat little monitor room like the one in cs_militia. Like, one in aardvark down the toilets. That would make people spend more time there, ooooh yea.

I am using a point_camera entity to view the scene in my map that I want to show on my monitor. I named this cam1.

For the monitor, make a func_brush (i think other brush based entitys will wok too, if you want your screen to move or whatever) and on one (or more) faces use a texture with _rt_Camera in the vmt. I named this entity screen1.

Search for "monitor" texture in hammer, and pick a texture, there's a lot to choose from. For example some have fuzzy static effects, and ff comes with some too but I dont think the effect is used at all in FF? If the texture has that _rt_camera thing in it's vmt, it will display your scene.

Lastly, added an info_camera_link entity. In Pointcamera field, put cam1. In target, screen1.

Now whatever my camera looks at shows up on my func_brush. Unfortunately it is a bit glitchy, so far i realised it doesn't show 3d skybox, and doesnt draw sentries or dispensers. Still a cool effect tho.

Ive been working on ff_flow beta 2:

Messing with colour correction!

EDIT Never mind it seems color correction doesnt work in ff, it doesn't recognise the entity so it can't load your CC settings.

Thanks much. Looks like I had it about 75% figured out. I was trying to use func_monitor instead. I'll have to play around with this some more now.

yeah as well as not displaying SG's etc I tested it and it won't show player models either, but when someone dies you can see their dead ragdoll... Kind of weird. Still cool thing to have tho.
