Fix for blurry loading screens(map makers & players alike)
Don't you hate it when you go to a new custom map and their loading screen looks like pure crap? I know I do, and here's how to fix it, and also how to not mess things up for you map makers out there.
Anywho, to fix the blurriness of your loading screens, simply download a program called VTFEdit: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=149 Once downloaded, open your loadingscreens directory like this: You will now see the icon has changed to match that of the VTFEditor software, and you can simply double click whichever VTF files you want to open, and they will open with it. Once you've got your first loading screen open, click the image tab if it isn't already highlighted, then there are 2 options to check off, and ONLY 2: Save the file, restart Fortress Forever, and you can test this out by creating a server and going to the map you wanted, and now everything is all set. No more blurriness. Map makers, the same applies to you when you make your maps. Just use those 2 check boxes in VTFEditor and those should work just fine. If you check the non-blurry vtfs with that tool, they are all using "nice filter". Maybe that's all you need to use instead of doing 2 checks?

I dont understand this thread. this never happens to me. I have never joined a map and had the loading screen be blurry. It is probably resolution or something.

The Photoshop plugin is great if your making new materials and know how to quickly write vmt's! Both are great, Nemisis is our savior! |
