So wait, does this mean demos I make now won't be viewable in teh future? I was considering making a full out .avi, but it requires a few maps are made first which will obviously take time and if an update rolls around, will my demos be unusable?

Yeah...never un-usable they just won't be compatible with your current (future) version. You will just have to dl the 2.0 install and then load up the demos in it instead of doing the 2.1 or whatever install.
Kind of a pain, but really that's going to be the same with anything...older versions just aren't going to be compatible.
