2 years isn't a long time and once I'm done I can finally go to school and start working on getting my life on track.

actually that's a possibility. I just talked to my lawyer and I might have a chance for a halfway house. It would mean living at a jail still, but I would be able to work and be out during the day. Lots of restrictions and rules and shit, but I wouldn't end up somebody's bitch (I really shouldn't say that lol) and I would be able to jump on once in a while.

I'm hoping that works out...but she has to talk it over with the DA...we'll see in a few days.

Also, you may want to ask about school opportunities while you're in. Alot of states have a university program option for their inmates. You could get a jump start while waiting.

Sucks that this is happening, seeing as how you already seem to regret your actions and want to change (the entire point of going to jail anyway), but it could be going a lot worse. Best of luck.

yeah I know that CO does have stuff like that, but my biggest issue is the parole. They put so many restrictions on you and you have to pay so much that it's really almost impossible to do anything traditional. I could do some internet classes and whatnot, but TBH I don't trust that I would get my time / money out of those. I have seen studies that show the retention rate for people who do non-traditional schooling and generally it's pretty low. And I don't really have the focus to do it without some sort of guidelines. If I were able to get something while I was in that would be pretty cool, but I don't think I have time to really, although I will have a shit ton of time on my hands so who knows!

Right now just really hoping for the half-way lol

Really? My mother went to Strayer (which is an online/in-house University) and had a badass new job RIGHT after she graduated. Now she's making enough money to cover her 3 houses, 2 cars, dog, and husband.

yeah I mean it depends on the person, and if she got a job right after then she's in practice still which is a plus, but generally (dependent on the person of course) it's like > 35% retention or something for people who do online schooling when compared to a classroom setting.

What's your mom do?

What's your mom do?

Something computer wise with the government. I'm not allowed to know the full details but I used to work in the same company and I worked with Homeland Security and the DoD. Probably similar stuff to what I did, just more technical.
