Oh the memories

Just looked about on my HDD and found the first ever war we did in TFC.
We had no clue what we did back then, not sure if we ever did

People were actually jealous of my 64K ISDN connection in 98. I love looking back to stuff like this, its also a little sad too. Who remembers 30 second lag spikes? the hole server coming to a halt, everyone twiddling their thumbs, then back into action.

Awesomeness.

Wow, blast from the past! [WASTED] coming back for FF?

I'll have to get back in your chan one of these days...

And yeah, lovely pings all round. I was on 33.6 at that time. Kenny, with his insanely low 110 was actually on T1 through JANET and used to also host our clan server on that connection. Good times.

I recon scores were usually shit because the player scores were not reset after prematch mode (when everyone spams the hell out of eachother). So you actually started the war with your prematch score. (I think)

Some of it was from people dropping now and again too. Connection stability was very hit and miss back then, with regard to both the game and ISPs. Some ISPs in the UK would even drop you after a strict period of time (usually 1 or 2 hours), and you'd have to redial.

I don't think we even used prematch... it was probably done by chat. I could be wrong though - 8 years ago is some time to have to think back to

Wow. Yeah, I remember when I was on 56k with BT. They offerd free surf time from 6:00pm to 8:00am weekdays and free all weekend I think. The connection would drop every 2 hours. It seems like yesterday.

I remember those scoreboards. I'm just having trouble figuring out what map that was. Not much to go on.

Oh, and I remember when there was no internet, and 300 BPS was considered fast.
