Another Spray-Tag topic.
I've read through most of the spray-tag topics I could find. Unfortunately they are all pretty irrelevant to my case, or at least to my question, so here goes:
As all posters on the forum and tutorials for SOURCE around the net state, you can use the sizes of maximum 256*256 (72dpi) px. However, my problem is that when I make a spray with that size(256*256), it doesn't appear that way at all. It looks shrinked (poorly) and appears a lot smaller(duh)... At least smaller than on other FF-Players' screenshots! I'll post a screenshot and the original *.TGA file itself at the bottom of this post in case it could help... Is there and alternative way to force FF to load a spray with the size you wish? (Sort of like HL1s tempdecal.wad). Or at least a trick to get a spray that doesn't look resized, or hopefully 256*256... Many thanks in advance, ~Micah^^ IMAGE ATTACHMENTS: ( http://doomtech.net/~micah/bin/ff/ ) In-Game Screenshot: http://doomtech.net/~micah/bin/ff/small_spray.jpg The TGA image file: http://doomtech.net/~micah/bin/ff/spray_kitty_b1.tga EDIT: Also other players don't seem to be able to see the spray either... |

Try this:
1) Download <Broken for some reason> 2) Unzip to ...FortressForever\materials\vgui\logos (the ... is of course the rest of your path to your SourceMods folder) 3) Load FF...Choose Options... select spray_kitty in dropdown box... hit apply 4) Join a server and give it a try. Thank you both!
Roland: The *.ZIP archive with the image file seems to be corrupted. WinRAR is unable to open it. (Your URL only directs me to another site. A blog.) Are you able to give a different URL for the download? :] betterschindt: Thanks a bunch. The edges were however there because I often experienced that TGA saved images with antializing, so there would always be a soft edge with the color I used as transparent anyway... Giving the picture a certain glow. However, the image still appears pretty small in-game... Are you able to provide your *.VTF and *.VMT files of the spray? Is there a CONFIG setting for the spray that I might be missing? :S |

I don't think you even need it as a tga...save it as a .jpg and load it up and see how it works out for you.

Also, as JPEG you can't make a transparent background (Which is working for my spray as TGA right now). I just need the original 256*256 size in-game. Could you try it yourself just for the heck of it and see if it does the same on your client? Perhaps there is an issue with mine (or the config, if there is one for the spray...) P.S!!! The image file I got from betterschindt didn't appear in-game at ALL! :O It was 100% invisible. I also do not use Photoshop. I use: * MS PAINT * Paint.NET * Paint Shop Pro 5.0 Last edited by Micah; 03-31-2008 at 02:52 PM. |

i tested it and it was regular size, thats why i uploaded it. i made sure it worked as intended. and i even screenshotted and compared to your screen shot ingame. it was bigger.
about it not appearign some times, could be the server. ive had wierd shit where ill spray in game, and it will spray some random pic, other times it will never spray anything. i just leave that server and join another and then everything is fine. also you should use photoshop! psp is ok for bmps, and pallete manipulation . but for anything with more then 256 colors, use photoshop. |

Thanks. I'll try it on different servers. If that fails, I simply don't know. I mean this was the picture I got from you, so it's not any of my image processing programs...
Guess I'll try to reinstall first. Hope I get more answers and replies here, though. I'll check from time to time! Thanks to everyone for your effort and time! |

Well I'm just guessing here but maybe if you make your image 512*512 it'll resize it to 256*256 ?

I just start with a huge image and let Steam resized it.
Le shrug.

Thanks, but I tried that. Steam or the Source engine ... or FF still resizes it down to something that looks like 150x150 or so. Maybe less.
