Student Loans

I am looking for a place with a reasonable interest rate and full deferral until after graduation. The place I had been getting mine from (Campus Door) decided to crap their pants and not give me one due to the credit crunch BS. Odd though...I got one 3 months ago in August, but whatever (thanks again G.W.!) Anywho, any help will be great. I don't have a credit worthy cosigner...and im still 4k short for this semester and really don't feel like dropping out...

Drop me a PM and I can refer you to a US Army Reserve recruiter. I've got pretty much a full ride with my incentives.

Sallie Mae. You should also check with your schools' office of financial aid.

I joined the army looking for money to go to college
But they didn't pay me a quarter of what they fucking promised
Extended my tour, treated me like a sucker
That's the reason offices get fragged, motherfucker
Don't give me speeches on how you respect and you love me,
But no body armor in a lightly armored Humvee?
My family's lonely, and you want me to re-enlist for thirty grand homie?
No.

I love it when those who don't go in and serve make comments about serving.

GI Bill kicks major ass for vets, but that's after enlistment.

Some commissioning programs have bonuses or available financial aid, but some of the programs require additional service.

Either way, don't join the military for the money.

Also, don't join the Reserves or the National Guard unless you are willing to deploy overseas in combat. They don't shell out cash for you to get motarded every other weekend. Their purpose is to be ready to support the regular components and the mission as necessary.

Again, don't join the military for the money.

Really? Because all the people I've spoken to about it and who are getting ready to leave my unit say otherwise. Then again, too many people enlist thinking "Oh I'll never go to Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan/Iran/Korea/Whoevertheneoconswantustofightnow." Like Fish said, Reserves and Guard are very deployable assets.

My idiot friends joined the reserves because they wanted to get some exercise during the bimonthly training weekends and make some extra money. Apparently they can just quit before a war starts

I was Air National Guard for 8 years. I also served as full time civil service for 3 years doing my same job but in a govt civil service role. There is no comparison between the GI Bill then and now. What you guys have now seems so much more comprehensive. I wasn't worried about deployments as I was already doing that job full time.

You see, insults hurt when they actually make sense. When you're trying to insult people based on something you're clueless about, it makes you seem like a politician or radical believer in something.

Innoc, did you put in your eight years during a time of conflict?

I finished my enlistment a month after the start of DS1. All peacetime.

The US government had nothing to do with it. These are all things they told me they would be doing a few days before they went to sign off. Perhaps it works differently in Canada or perhaps they didn't know what was going on, because they were stupid.

I think it's got more to do with your paragraph making no sense, because it was not formed of actual sentences, but instead mish-mashed clauses with no direction.

It follows standard grammatical rules as far as I can see. Maybe a comma would have been fitting after apparently, but aside from that my grammar follows the rules well enough.

More than a single comma would've been preferred. It is a little disjointed as it is though. Also, as far as I know, you can't really quit a few days before a war starts. Unless you can predict wars quite a while in advance, and have something in your contract that'll let you quit as you please.
