I didnt like the old one and thats why it was redone. I honestly didnt know how i was going to texture that and make it look elegant rather than bulky and toyish.
It was too flat and boxy, and generally uninteresting in the view perspective. Im sorry to hear that you prefered the old one though, but i guess you cant please everyone. Edit: just to make it clear, im not the one who edited your post haha :P i dont see why someone did either.

Wow...haha, I bet nobody gets confused by that. Why would anybody ever say forum polls are useless? The new sniper rifle destroys the old one. |

The new one kicks so much ass - I put in the in game picture because, well, it kicks ass.
I also took the liberty of fixing your poll to put the poll options in the same order as the images

It depends what kind of feel you're looking for.
I like toon models better than realistic ones so I voted for the old one. But the whole mod has gone in a more realistic direction so obviously the new one fits in alot better with the other models. I wonder if someone's gonna make a toon pack for FF. The one for TFC was amazing, but I guess it's alot more work to do the same stuff in FF. |

Personally I think the new sniper looks alot like one of the auto-snipers on Counter-Strike.

i like the new one but the in game shot seems like you see too much of the weapon compared to other weapon models and the arm/hand is funky looking... i can't quite put my finger on why but it just doesn't look right. maybe it is that you seem to much of the arm and the weapon... pull it back some maybe? dunno. i know you said you're working on it. anyway, my vote - first one (new one).

Yeah the old one is too boxy to look good as a view model.

Personally, i do like both... the new one i looked at and didn't like at first, but then i took some time to examine it, and decided i really did like it... i wouldn't ever let my "first sight" opinion settle, without giving it a second glance...
the old one imo, is to cartoonish, and boxy, as stated before, it would be hard to texture and get a good feel with the rest of the textures of the char, weapons and even levels in the new FF template... it however would be an excelent sniper rifle in TF2 if it were skinned properly... ...or even a possible Cartoon pack for FF? |

Glad to hear that
Edit: And i now realized you said "I love you" and not "I love it". Well, you aiint getting into my knickers, im telling you that right now. While im planing to base parts of the AR on the SR to save time among other things, i will be redoing alot of it for the AR. Obviously the scope will be removed, the tank thing will also go, the forearm/barrel area will be remodeled, im not sure if the attachment rail will stay and the tube thingy will also be removed i think. I will prolly do a paintover on an side ortographic render of the sr and take it from there I'll be sure to make a devjournal of the progress when im done with it.

When side by side, the old one looks too compact to be a good sniper rifle. New ftw.

New one looks great... old one looks more TF2ish. I thought it would have been a bit hard to fit into the game.
Questions: the sniper rifle works the same way as it does in TFC, right? 75 rounds and you can fire them one by one? So where are all those bullets stored? Or is the rifle a bolt action or something like that and we can just not see the bolt? |

Lets say that it generates its own projectiles and by charging it you're building pressure to increase the power of the projectile.

I have an idea... how about you make little square clays... black and white... they would sorta look like this: Just imagine one of those babies flying through the air. I even have a good idea for the name of the map: ff_FUBARedupdatetherapy Okay, a bit wordy, but still... |
