It's official, Valve is turning TF2 in World of Warcraft

Between crits (RNG), achievements, vanity items, and now 'crafting', it seems Valve's intent is to turn TF2 in World of Warcrap. I wonder how long it'll take them to come up with gathering professions, dailies, and vehicle combat! Every 12 year olds dream!

Way better than FF's E-Sport direction, imo. Oh and Saxton Hale is awesome.

If TF2 wasnt so slow this would be sweet.
Now the game is comparable to playing asteriods in slow motion with a shotgun

Actually, that system is the best option for the other system they've put in place. I don't agree with the original system, but they like it, and the answer to the problem that it presented is a good one.

Now I can take my 140,000 Flareguns and make them in to something I'd actually use.

Like the new class weapons.

Well, TFC/FF is a skill-based game with a high skill-curve, it's only natural that it turns into an E-Sport.

Circuitous 12-13-2009 08:59 PM

"turns into"? That was FF's direction from the start.

GenghisTron 12-13-2009 10:34 PM

There's a difference between being an E-sport and being a 'game'. But I guess I'm just being semantical, and I'll shut up.

Circuitous 12-13-2009 11:55 PM

Use e-sport as a genre and problem solved.

GenghisTron 12-14-2009 01:04 AM

Sure, but it's not a huge deal, I got my point across :D

Mooga 12-14-2009 01:32 AM

This is only useful for people TF2 to the point of obsesion. That's the only real way to get item drops anyways... play for 24 hours a day...

Circuitous 12-14-2009 01:39 AM

I usually get 3 or 4 items per playtime, and I only play maybe once every other week.

I'm gonna make lots of hats and laugh when I get the new weapons from easy achievements.

Credge 12-14-2009 08:45 AM

Yeah, the hats don't really matter to me. I can't see them on me while I play. I imagine that people target those with hats much like I do, so I can't really see a reason to use them or care about them.

Agent Buckshot Moose 12-14-2009 08:32 PM

What have they even done to this game...

I think the only class that has a major disadvantage with a hat is the Sniper, because tall hats can give away his position. I usually either stick with Bill Beret or don't give him a hat at all. I'd give my Sniper the hatless head "hat", but good luck trying to get that thing in the first place.

Hype 12-15-2009 04:48 PM

I think this could be sweet.

Don't hate me for it. :D

AfterShock 12-17-2009 02:47 AM

I dont even think valve know what they're doing with TF2 any more. I think they're just trying some random shit to see what sticks.

Suite307 12-17-2009 03:35 AM

Why would you guys care, you guys are playing FF :P

Credge 12-17-2009 04:15 AM

I think Valve is past the trial and error phase. They know exactly what they're doing now.

The pyro, medic, and heavy updates? Those seemed more like a brain storm session than seasoned results. The Spy and Sniper update was another brain storm session that flopped but was quickly resolved by reintroducing the old system and combining it with the new, although the items had specific results that they shot for and succeeded with.

This new update seems pretty solid. They've tied together the new system with another new system and it works. Also, they seem to be doing this update rather right in terms of items. The demonmans sword and shield thing is neat. It doesn't fit fluff wise, but it fits mechanic wise and is funny. The soldier rocket thing is 100% perfect as well.

Maybe they'll really drop the ball on the other items, but so far it's been pretty solid.

Suite307 12-17-2009 04:24 PM

Soldier gets a PickAxe and a Bugle and demoman gets a 16 shot sticky with selective detonation
