Graphic card help

Right iv spent about 350 on a new pc set up but iv been lumbered with a geforce 7300se/7200gs cheap thing.

Cant run dod:s or cs:s without having 800:600 res and mini details and im pretty worried about FF if it comes out within the year.

I have this motherboard - http://tw.giga-byte.com/Products/Mot...ame=GA-M55S-S3

so i can support up to 8800 ultra i think? but cant afford that

Therefore I got 250max to spend on a new one be it ebay or pcworld what are ur recommendations???

Cheers!

I run cs:s fine with my 6600gt (not that i'd reccomend you buy it as it is fairly outdated)

remember that geforce 8 series supports directX 9 and 10. Vista sucks (for now) so i'm just running my 8800 on dx9 xp pro.

How much is 250 in dollars?

If you're looking into the 8 series Geforce cards, the 8800GTS 320MB is the cheapest one worth getting. The 8600 series has performance slightly better than the Geforce 7600's but costs a bit more. If that's more your price range, you'd be better off getting a X1950PRO or something.

Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320MB will run you about $280 before MIR so I'd start there. If it were me, the 8800GTS 640MB would be the one to get -- ~ $350.

Moved here because this is the more "appropriate" forum for these type of techy questions/threads...

FWIW, at the moment it's pretty close to $2 = £1 , but due to VATs and other factors pricing for high tech goods and other items here in the states is not necessarily equivalent to the UK (or anywhere else) for that matter.

you probably could put an 8800gts or something in there, but they require an extra power cable i think, which you'll have to get a molex-pcie power convertor cable for

Need to know the rest of your spec tbh. No point reccomending an uber GFX card if the rest of your system will hold it back.

So.
Whats the syetem Spec?
What size and resolution monitor are you playing on?
What power supply do you have?

Be able to give a better reccomendation if we knew a bit more about your system.
