Rub the cartridge's contacts with a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol on it.

I found an NES at my co-op, it's been in a box for the last few years, and I want to try it out but I only have the NES. I need to find a power adaptor and games/conrollers.

NOOOO!!! Never blow into a cart. (moisture in your breath is bad)

Use a pink eraser to clean the contacts(both sides), then put some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip, and clean them with that. Let dry, and try it again.

Also, instead of hitting e-pay, try Atariage.com first. They have a "Marketplace" forum, and you can get better stuff cheaper than e-bay.

wat?

Step one: blow into cart.
Step two: wipe with a damp cloth
Step three: I've never seen required.

It's seriously like voodoo magic or something.

That is how you wear down the contacts on the pins.

They makes replace 72-pins for the NES and I'm pretty sure they have replacement ones for the SNES

if i remember correctly, been years since i worked at a old school game system repair shop, yobo made them. I also sold the Yobo Top Loaders and they work great!

Didn't the SNES Zelda cartridges have a battery to keep your saved game data live?

Yep. Fun thing, if you don't plug it in every so often the battery eventually dies. I have a worthless copy of Perfect Dark 64 because my friend didn't plug it in for 6 months when I lent it to him THANKS A LOT DAVE!
