There's a lot that can be done with achievements.... but they should not alter the gameplay. I like some of the suggestions that have been put forth, and as long as there are no "unlockables" to accompany them, I'm all for it.
We could even do achievements for training mode, this would boost the newbies confidence that they are doing something right. I love the "coast to coast" one..... but all of them should have a minimum amount of players on a server to be valid. It's pretty easy to do that one with no one else on a server. I recently bought Zombie-Bowl-A-Rama, which has achievements. They don't affect gameplay, but give you something to strive for. Some of them were too easy, and as it stands, I've only 2 left.... both involve a 300 game. Not something I think is going to happen, but I'm happy with all of the others.
