Trepidjon-280: /* Description */

Description
Waterpolo is a deadly game of soccer (football) taking place in a very large pool. The objective is to carry the ball into the enemy's goal for 10 points. If your team carries the ball into your own goal, the enemy will receive 10 points and your team will be shamed with the force of 10,000 klanopes. If the ball carrier lands outside the bright laser boundary markers, the ball will return to midfield.

Each team can have one goalie Civilian. His Umbrella can kill anyone with one hit, is extremely fast, and is the only person on the team that can return the ball to midfield (by touching it). To make things fair, Snipers have been disabled.

Due to the map's wide open layout, it can get very laggy depending on how much action is going on at once. Even lowering all optimization settings won't guarantee better performance, because some of the best computers have lagged on this map. However, feel free to tweak options in whatever way you want. A future patch will address the performance issues.

Locations
x Side
This is where your goal is. You'll respawn on the top of the side walls, and can jump down with only a small damage penalty. Your goalkeeper (Civilian) should stay in or near this area, as he is the only one that can reset the ball's positoin if it gets too close to your goal.

Some people like to build sentries in this area or right in front of the goal. While they're effective on enemies close to the goal, they can be taken out with a Nailgun or Rocket Launcher with ease.

Midfield
The island in the center of the Midfield has the ball, and consequencly, has the most amount of carnage. Fast classes should try to grab the ball; they can slip out of the bloodbath and run over to the enemy's side without anybody noticing. Scouts can try and place a Jump Pad on the island for their team; but remember that enemy ball carriers can use it to fly into your goal.

On the sides of the Midfield are the Side Rooms.

Side Room 1 and 2
These rooms contain four medikits, two Blue Armors, and a grenade backpack that gives two grenades of each type. Conc-jumpers should immedietly come over to one of the side rooms and get a grenade-pack.

Your team can deny the enemy usage of the supplies in the room by hoarding them. Have one person grab everything he can get. Once he's stocked up, have him fire his guns, throw a grenade and injure himself a few times, allowing him to grab what's left. Once the supplies respawn, repeat the process. Many enemies won't even know what you're doing in there, allowing the hoarder to get off scot-free.
* Caltrops and radar have been removed. Instead they have a buildable jump pad on +attack2. Jumppad is invincible - det it by double right-tapping. You can only carry one, similar to a detpack. They last 60 seconds before auto-detting. Any team can use them.
* Reduced conc time for Scout down to Medic level
* Scouts now don't take fall damage.
* Right click now discards medpacks for teammates to use (thanks mirv). These take 10 cells to use and the medic slowly recharges cells over time. Medpacks last 5 seconds before disappearing so the person you are throwing to has to pick them up soon (you can't leave a supply for your defenders for example)
* Updated ff_waterpolo - this map now has gameplay more similar to pigskin, a classic fun map, mainly by making the map bigger, removing the respawn rooms, adding side resupply rooms, adding an invisible wall that gets disabled after a 15 second start timer before each round, and allowing buildables that don't die after goals. Also added soundscapes and locations, replaced side steps with with steep ramps for fun trimping and double jumping. Oh, and also removed goalie invincibility and boundaries, made goalies have no armor and no ability to pick up resupply items, and made goalies faster than scouts.
<s>In 2013, All About Hats Inc. managed to gain a monopoly on the hat industry by forced mergers. Some dissinants managed to hire five mercenaries to take out the CEO of All About Hats Inc. as he made his way to a business meeting. The CEO was tipped off by an informant and managed to hire some guys from Red team as bodyguards. What the informer didn't tell him was that his vehicle was rigged to explode after a certain time. The vehicle did explode, but the CEO managed to get out safely. Now, the CEO and his bodyguards must make it to the end of the industrial sector of town before the mercs manages to kill the CEO.</s> Hah, not even close. Can't be accurate without the mention of Foantaire-Fey, the supposed-to-be-destroyed-from-bombs motorcade, and all the secret projects going on like cloning. Uh oh...I said too much? - trepid_jon
Hunted is a map that has one player, playing as the nearly-defenseless (Blue) Civilian, attempt to make it across the map to the escape zone before a Yellow Assassin Sniper or 1 Spy manages to kill him. The Red Bodyguards (Soldier, Demoman, Medic, HWGuy, Pyro, Engineer, and 1 Sniper are selectable) must protect and escort The Hunted. This map takes extreme cooperation in order for either side to succeed. The Hunted must constantly keep his Bodyguards informed, while the Assassins must keep tabs on The Hunted, use the environment to their advantage, and avoid prolonged firefights with the Bodyguards.
