Lets not look at this as a "win or lose" situation. There is a problem and it needs to be resolved.

Regardless of your stance on this topic, players should be given the choice to disable sprays. If someone wants to spray a picture what "whatever" on the wall. Other players should be given the choice to see or not see the spray.

A server owner can say "we allow those types of sprays" - well, your server guidelines can not over rule state / federal law.

The pictures are being displayed in full view of children that are under the age of 18.

Should we ban the internet then? I mean, people under 18 or 21 can type porn into google and see porn. This is a game, while not expressively rated M for mature or AO for only adults, it is going to have things in it not suitable for children, such as nudity, language, and gore/blood. While you can find safe haven in the O-T server for the most part, the majority of servers contain people in the age group of 16 to 28 or so, mostly males who look at porn, curse a lot, and love gibs/blood/gore. So maybe this game isn't that suitable for your children/teens.

To be honest, I really dont care what some 15 or 16 year old kid does.

But, I should not have to look at it. And if I dont want my kids seeing those kinds of sprays, I should be able to disable that feature in the game.

exactly. the main complaint is that you shouldnt have to see it, that you should be able to disable it if you want, and that complaint has been addressed with cl_downloadfilter none. you dont have to see it, so stop bitching about it.

But most people probably won't bother to use commands to get rid of the sprays. The easier, the better. If they have to look in the internet for a way to disable, they will probably stop playing unless they liked the game a lot. Now it's kev who needs it, tomorrow maybe it will be another player who doesn't browse the forums, only uses the PC to play, IDK.

Last night while playing on shutdown 2, this guy (not me) asked if people would stop with the p0rn sprays. It seems that his mom was walking through the room and he did not want her to see the pictures.

A couple of the replies where, "just dont look at the pictures."

That was our server, and that was me. I have a few sprays I use, one of them happens to be a lady nice enough to to show us where babies come from, and where last nights dinner resides.

I was being honest with him, not trying to be sarcastic with him, if he is worried about his mom seeing stuff on his screen, dont look at it while she is their.

Im sure he had headphones on, or she would have heard what was being talked about on the server, which was again, mature disscusion.

This is a mature game,in a public server ran by adults, and really, for adults, as from the incept this is a mature rated game, and if a parent chooses to allow thier kids to log on the netz, and into a pub server that does not advertise as family server, clearly stating rules for conduct, its buyer/logger/gamer/parent beware.

And our server does not kick or ban anyone for saying anything, or spraying anything, save cp.

Thats a crime that hurts kids, but other than that, [TALOS] server is a BIG fan of 1st amendment.

I do think having an option in ff menu to disable sprays entirely is a great idea, it gives the parents the ability, somewhat, to regulate what thier kids view on a server.

TBH, the things I hear are far worse than the things I see, and sides from muting everyone on the server, which is kinda odd to be on a full server but not hearing anyone, it just comes with the game on our server.
